So Easy - Royksopp |
] |
HAY GUISE.
Well, December is here, and that means for my school that my prom's halfway deadline is nearly here. If you all remember this post then you remember my school's senior prom is SPACE THEMED WOOOOO.
So as it turns out, I'm in charge of ~ Invitations ~ Decorations ~ Venue ~ Music .....Crap, guess I got stuck with everything.
Oh well, just gives me more control. *Evil smirk* Well, I wanted to share with you guys on what I had come up with, both invitation wise and for decoration wise.
What I want to know from my fellow GQMF party-ers (and God knows y'all can throw quite a party 8D) is What improvements could I make on the invitations/decorations pictured below, and do you have any suggestions for me?
I'm still trying to make this as Trek as I can, so try and give me some ideas for that part too!
WARNING: THAR BE PICTURES AHEAD; NOT DIAL UP FRIENDLY, MATIES.

| Jesse McCartney Gets City of Hope Honors |
[sat dec 5th, 2009 »9:48p] |

You can call Jesse McCartney obsessed — it’s okay.
The 22-year-old wass the fifth star being honored at Saturdays’s Variety Power of Youth initiative for his work with City of Hope, one of the nation’s leading research and treatment for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases.
The goal of Variety’s Power of Youth is to reach out to the next generation of entertainers and encourage them to support philanthropic and humanitarian causes — and to use their positions to encourage fans to do the same.
Jesse shared that it was, “Bob Cavallo, who is the head of Hollywood Records introduced me to City of Hope. Once I had the chance to really study the center and all of the things that they do, especially with their pediatric programs, I became a little obsessed.”

Get it Mr. McCartney, that thing you got behind you is amazing.

| a poem. |
[sat dec 5th, 2009 »11:49p] |
I carved your name into the willow tree a barren and bereft cadaver clutched in the arthritic hands of winter strewn crossways and split akimbo after the lightning’s final strike after you took your suitcase solid as an oyster shell packed full of your bare necessities your books of leather with foxed pages your kerchiefs sewn with stolen names your studded bag of borrowed makeup and your most prized possession a map of soviet russia a gift from your grand nana a blessing for your journey like rosaries encircling your rearview casting rivers across your dashboard while you pulled out of our driveway away from our apartment the stoop full of hard cider nights the only answer to our prayers into the desert ridden with twilight hauntingly smothered in Prussian blue from smog and snow caught in streetlamps just because your breath was lost somewhere below the mountaintops while I would never stop to catch it

| As sick of Tiger as i am? So here's some more! Voicemail remix style! |
[sat dec 5th, 2009 »11:26p] |
When life gives a celebrity lemons, why wait for him to make lemonade when you can serve up a tasty schadenfreude shake? That's what some interweb beat jockeys decided, so they sliced-and-diced a Tiger Woods voicemail to one alleged mistress in a musical refrain destined to sweep the nation (or not): "Take your name off your phone." How romantical!
As this is apparantly his 4th mistress

| Tarses family to develop family sitcom |
[sat dec 5th, 2009 »11:21p] |
NBC comedy partners father and son

The Tarses clan has come together to develop -- what else? -- a family comedy for NBC. Sitcom vet Jay Tarses and his son, comedy writer Matt Tarses, are onboard to write "Assisted Loving" -- which they'll exec produce with Matt's sister, Jamie Tarses.
Sony Pictures TV, where both Matt and Jamie Tarses are based, is onboard as the studio. Project centers on a gay man who helps his father find love after the family matriarch dies.
Jay Tarses is no stranger to working with his children: He appears on "My Boys," which Jamie Tarses exec produces, in a recurring role as Jack Brisco. And Matt Tarses was a writer on "Public Morals," the short-lived 1996 comedy that his father created for CBS.
Jay Tarses' TV credits include "The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd," "Buffalo Bill," and "The Bob Newhart Show."
Matt Tarses, meanwhile, is currently developing the project "True Love" for CBS. Jamie Tarses is exec producing "True Love" with brother Matt, and she's also behind ABC's potential rework of "St. Elmo's Fire" and the Alphabet's Matthew Perry comedy project.

| 1, 2, 3.... Tricky songs on Aguilera's new album! |
[sun dec 6th, 2009 »4:01a] |

A Short Convo With... Tricky Stewart Posted 12/04/2009 at 2:55 PM by VIBE How did you approach working with Christina Aguilera versus R&B artists? With Christina it's a little different, because Christina wants music that you haven't heard before. She did things that she's never necessarily heard on the radio. She doesn't want a record that sounds like anything else so you're trying to create an entirely new sound for an artist. The three tracks that I did, they're all uptempo tracks so we definitely kind of get the club moving but it's just a matter of her doing different styles and using her voice in different ways.
Vocal style on the Ladytron tracks:
Ladytron founder, Daniel Hunt, said: "She's an absolutely amazing singer but one of the things she talked about was working with a softer vocal sound, so I think the stuff we do will feature simpler melodies."
Number of songs for each producer/writer so far:
Sia - 4 songs (1 of the tracks, accoding to Sia, is more epic than "Beautiful"! Holy fuck!!!) Diplo/Switch - 2 songs (one of them is a vocal collab with either MIA OR SANTIGOLD! *dies*) Tricky - 3 songs Ladytron - 4 songs Goldfrapp - ? Focus - ? Le Tigre - ?
- Livedaily
Praise the LORD, I need this album!

Haters... fall back.

Jessica Simpson Has a New Crush

Jessica Simpson has several reasons to smile this holiday season. While it may seem like her sister Ashlee Simpson-Wentz has it all right now — an adoring husband Pete Wentz, her son Bronx Mowgli and a Broadway debut in Chicago — Jessica may be catching up soon! She has a new crush that she’s very excited about!
OK! has learned that Jessica is crazy about former Smashing Pumpkins front man Billy Corgan since she connected with him at a party on Nov. 6.
The singer hasn’t had much luck with guys since her divorce from Nick Lachey in 2005, but she feels a connection with Billy.
“She has completely fallen for Billy and his easygoing, smart attitude,”a close friend of Jess said. “She says she wants to take things a lot further.”
On Sept. 11 Jessica tweeted, “My friend, Billy Corgan, has a pure and enlightening outlook on faith. Go to his new website!”
Her friends said Jessica has “secretly been crushing on him for months and felt there was a connection.”
Jessica spent an evening in November at a friend’s party in L.A. flirting with Billy.
“As the night went on,” an eyewitness said, “Things got more intense and they talked with their faces just inches apart.”
“We do worry that she is on the rebound,” an insider explained. “But she is a big girl and capable of making her own decisions.”
Another chapter in the long story of Billy Corgan peeing all over my teenage memories... I know it doesn't specifically confirm that they're dating but, as yourself: Would he actually turn down an opportunity to listen to a rebounding twenty-something blonde stroking his ego while engaging in some good ol' Jesus-approved boning transcendent spiritual congress?

| Portia De Rossi Schools Elisabeth Hasselbeck On Gay Marriage |
[sat dec 5th, 2009 »4:57p] |
Don't you love it when a dumb question is met with an elegant, eloquent answer? Elisabeth asked, of gay marriage:
"Men and women — women want all the rights of men, but they're not asking to be called men… do you think… is it the word [marriage] is more important than the rights?" Portia, who is married to Ellen DeGeneres, was measured, confident, calm and clear in her answer: "Of course it's not the word." (I would have added, "Dumbass.") Portia went on to say, "Without the word, we don't have equal rights." Then she explained that a "lesser" term would imply that gay couples are lesser. Applause.

| Nichelle Nichols 2008 Movie: Lady Madalegene's |
[sat dec 5th, 2009 »8:53p] |
Have you all heard of Nichelle's film from 2008? Apparently it was a gospel comedy. It is so weird and different. I don't see myself paying to see it on Amazon.com. Maybe it is floating around the net somewhere. I find myself strangely intrigued.
Here is the website.
Below is a video of her performing one of the songs from the film. I was embarrassed into laughter. It is not a bad song either.
